Mayor Daley on Tuesday told the Chicago Police Department to correct the security breach that allowed a 14-year-old to pass as a Chicago police officer -- and to make his way onto the streets for a five-hour tour of duty before Halloween.
"I'd hate to see it at Halloween," he said.
"If a 12- or 14-year-old child walks into the police station on Halloween, they'll get behind the desk. They'll give 'em a car. They'll give him a badge," the Sun-Times quoted him as saying.
Some veteran cops grumbled about it, saying Weis' federal pedigree and $310,000-a-year salary ought to cover it.
