Cutler, Rose Among Chicago's Highest Paid Athletes

With a group of successful teams and some big-name players in town, the city of Chicago is one of the country’s sporting hotbeds, and according to a new ranking published on Wednesday, the athletes that call the Windy City home are making some serious money.

That report, which was published by Crain’s Chicago Business, ranks the top 25-paid athletes in Chicago, and the top 10 spots on the list are dominated by the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago White Sox. The Bulls have three players in those slots, including point guard Derrick Rose, who is number one in the city with an income of $35.1 million. He makes $20.1 million per season from the Bulls, and he makes another $15 million in endorsements.

Rose is joined in the top 10 by Jimmy Butler, who checks in at number four on the list, and Joakim Noah, who is the seventh-richest athlete in Chicago.

Meanwhile, the White Sox surprisingly occupy the eighth, ninth, and 10th spots on the list, as John Danks, Melky Cabrera, and Adam LaRoche all crack the top 10.

The Chicago Blackhawks’ pair of young superstars also rank highly, as Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are in fifth and sixth, respectively.

The Chicago Cubs and Bears each have one representative in the top 10, as Jon Lester finished in second place and Jay Cutler finished in third.
