One of the Friendly Confines' most well-known legends will be honored this week..

The Cubs are set to unveil a statue of Ron Santo Wednesday as part of a ceremony remembering the former Cub.

The ceremony, being held at the corner of Sheffield Avenue and Addison Street outside of Wrigley Field, will begin at 5:30 p.m. and include appearances from members of Santo's and owner Ricketts' families.

Several of Santo's former teammates will speak at the ceremony, including Ernie Banks, Glen Beckert, Randy Hundley, Fergie Jenkins, Milt Pappas and Billy Williams.

The Cubs organization also plans to donate $10 from every ticket sold on their website for Wednesday's game toward the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Santo died of complications from bladder cancer Dec. 2, 2010. Despite his lifelong fight against diabetes, Santo was a nine-time all-star in his 15-year career as a third baseman for the Cubs.
