The Chicago Cubs’ four-game winning streak ended with a thud on Saturday as they managed just six hits in a 2-0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Manny Pina drove in both Milwaukee runs, and that was all the offense the Brewers’ pitching staff needed, as five pitchers combined for a shutout victory.

Cole Hamels was the tough-luck loser for the Cubs, giving up just five hits and two earned runs. Kyle Ryan, Brandon Kintzler, and Rowan Wick all worked scoreless innings of relief, but it wasn’t enough as the Cubs fell for the first time in their last five games.

Anthony Rizzo picked up two base hits in his return to the lineup after dealing with a back issue, but no one else could seem to get their bats going in the losing effort.

The Brewers got on the board in the very first inning, as Hamels issued a pair of walks and then gave up a double to Piña, scoring two runs and giving the Brewers a 2-0 lead.

That was the only offense of the day, as the Cubs sputtered to a halt and the Brewers cruised to victory.

The two teams will re-convene for the series finale on Sunday, with Yu Darvish set to pitch for the Cubs.
