In what may have been the wildest game of the year, the Chicago Cubs managed to outslug the San Francisco Giants 12-11 at Wrigley Field on Wednesday night.

Trailing in the eighth inning, Kris Bryant hit a towering home run into the left field bleachers, giving the Cubs the lead, and Craig Kimbrel slammed the door in the ninth for his 11th save of the season.

Nicholas Castellanos hit another home run for the Cubs, his eighth since joining the team, and Kyle Schwarber added his team-leading 29th home run of the season in the victory.

Yu Darvish helped his own cause with an RBI single in the game, and Anthony Rizzo, Javier Báez, and Victor Caratini all drove in runs to help pace the effort.

The Cubs blew two different leads in the game, with Austin Slater pushing the GIants ahead in the sixth with an RBI double and Brandon Belt hitting a seventh inning sacrifice fly to make it an 11-10 game, but it wasn't enough for San Francisco as the Cubs earned their second win in a row to open their homestand.

Darvish gave up seven runs and surrendered four home runs in the game, taking a no-decision for his effort. Brandon Kintzler earned the win for the Cubs.

The Cubs will attempt to finish the series sweep on Thursday afternoon, with a 1:20 p.m. start at the Friendly Confines.
