Cubs Celebrate Longer Tweets With Pitch Perfect Post

The Twitter world was rocked by the rollout of 280-character tweets on Tuesday, and the Chicago Cubs celebrated in their own unique way.

The Cubs, who routinely use social media to perfection, sent out their first extra-long tweet on Wednesday morning, and while the meaning may not be immediately obvious, the tweet is extremely clever when fans realize what it symbolizes:

For those who can’t quite decode the tweet, the “W’s” and “L’s” correspond to the team’s 2016 season, when they won 103 regular season games and went on to win the World Series over the Cleveland Indians in seven games.

The tweet comes after the social media website expanded its tweets from 140 characters (which it had adopted when it was founded because of strict limits on the number of characters able to be sent from phones in text messages) to 280.
