CTA Train Derails on Green Line

Green Line service temporarily suspended

A CTA Green Line train derailed Wednesday afternoon, temporarily halting service on the line.

The train derailed at 61st and Calumet. No injuries were reported.

The CTA said Green Line service was temporarily suspended between the Cottage Grove and Garfield stops because of the derailment.

Trains are still operating at Harlem/Lake and Ashland/63rd. Shuttle buses were routed to the site to transport passengers through the affected areas.

Riders can also use the 3, 4, 55 and 63 buses.

Chicago Fire Department officials were on the scene to help passengers exit the derailed train.
