Chicago police have released surveillance images of two individuals they say are wanted for questioning in a fatal stabbing on a CTA Red Line train Saturday afternoon.

According to authorities, a 54-year-old man was riding on a southbound train near the Cermak-Chinatown stop on Saturday afternoon when he got involved in a verbal altercation with another person on the train.

That person then pulled out a knife and stabbed the man multiple times, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The attacker fled the train, heading southbound on Wentworth after the incident.

CTA trains were routed around the Cermak-Chinatown stop for several hours after the incident, causing delays up and down the Red Line.
