CTA Train Platform Heaters to be Turned Back On

If you take CTA trains during your commute, we have some good news for you.

With temperatures forecasted in the high 30’s and low 40’s for the next several days, the CTA has announced that it will be leaving the heating units on its platforms on beyond the normal April 1 shut-off date.

“Yikes! April isn’t supposed to be this cold,” the agency tweeted. “We heard you and we agree: we’re keeping our rail station heaters on, and turning back on the ones we shut off until it warms up a bit.”

The average temperature in early April is in the mid-50’s, but temperatures aren’t forecasted to reach that modest milestone until at least next week, according to the NBC 5 Storm Team. In the meantime, snow showers are in the forecast for multiple days, including the White Sox and Cubs home openers, and rain could also impact the city during that time.
