CTA Green Line Service Resumes After Train Derailment Near 63rd and Ashland

Service on the Green Line resumed by 9 a.m.

A CTA Green Line train derailed near the 63rd and Ashland station early Sunday morning.

A southbound train jumped the tracks just before 6 a.m. There were no passengers on board, and nobody was injured, according to CTA officials.

A spokesperson for the CTA said the derailment was minor, but Green Line services were temporarily suspended. As of 9 a.m., service had resumed.

As crews worked to get the train back on tracks, passengers used shuttle buses between Garfield and Ashland.
