The Chicago Transit Authority's new station on the Green Line opened to commuters early Monday morning.
The Cermak-McCormick Place station opened for service at 5 a.m. at 12 E. Cermak.
The new $50 million station provides access to McCormick Place, Motor Row and other destinations on the Near South Side.
It includes three entrances — one on the north side of Cermak, one on the south side of Cermak, and one at 23rd Street. The station features an "island platform" including full canopy coverage, heaters and benches, according to the agency.
It also includes bike racks, bright lighting and security cameras, new signage including digital displays, and farecard vending machines at all entrances.
