Multiple injuries were reported after a Chicago Transit Authority Pink Line train collided with a vehicle Thursday evening near the Cicero stop in suburban Cicero Township, authorities said.
CTA initially stated on Twitter that the Pink Line service was temporarily suspended around 7:40 p.m. "due to a collision with a vehicle,"
At a press conference, police said a 21-year-old woman was driving northbound on 47th Avenue, when she attempted to go around the train gates that were down and that her car was immediately hit by a train.
The woman, officials said, had a 15-year-old boy in the front passenger seat, who was ejected from the vehicle upon impact. The boy remains in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
Another 17-year-old boy, who was also riding in the passenger seat, was in serious condition at Loyola University Medical Center, authorities said.
Three other passengers aboard the train and the conductor were reportedly injured as well, according to police.
Trains were suspended between 54th/Cermak and Central Park and Pulaski, according to CTA on Twitter.

CTA suggested commuters consider taking the 21 Cermak bus as an alternative.
No other details were immediately known.
