Four people are dead after a small plane crash near Crystal Lake.

The plane, a single-engine Cirrus model with a tail number of N223CD, went down Saturday morning near Route 14 and North Ridgefield Road.

Ray Harris of Marion, Ind., was flying his daughter Ramie back to Wheaton College after the holiday weekend when they crashed, a neighbor told the Sun-Times.  Ramie's sister, Shey, and one of the girls' boyfriends were also on board.

The plane was registered to Marion Pilots Club of Marion, Ind., according to a Federal Aviation Administration database.

The FAA said all four people on the plane were killed. The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation, with the FAA and local authorities assisting.
