Crestwood Gunman Charged in Bar Standoff

The man who barricaded himself inside a Crestwood bar last week has been formally charged, according to Cook County police.

Daniel Gilbert, 35, holed himself up in Mitch’s Pub and Eatery June 24, holding a three-hour standoff with Crestwood police. He harmed no one, but fired several shots while inside the pub.

Gilbert has now been charged with two counts of armed forcible detention, aggravated unlawful restraint, armed robbery with a firearm and criminal damage to government property.

Gilbert’s bond was set at $1 million at the time of his arrest. He will appear in court July 7.
