3 Chicago Officers Injured in North Side Crash

33-year-old driver of SUV received multiple citations, official says

Three Chicago police officers were injured, but not seriously, when the squad car they were in was involved in a crash on the city's northwest side Irving Park neighborhood.

The officers' unmarked squad car was northbound on the 3800 block of North Pulaski Road at about 11 p.m. Thursday when an SUV traveling south turned left in front of them, according to department spokesman Hector Alfaro.

Three officers -- all men -- were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Alfaro said.

The 33-year-old man driving the SUV was not injured but was cited for not having insurance, negligent driving, failure to reduce speed and failure to yield the right of way during a left turn, Alfaro said.

Neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the crash, Alfaro said.
