Cougars Spotted in the Suburbs

And we're not talking about older single women

A Wood Dale woman was in her back yard with her dogs on Easter morning when she saw what she thought was something that belonged in a zoo.

She said it looked to her like a cougar that wandered about 30 feet from her.

According to the Daily Herald, Sharon Cote phoned Wood Dale police. They arrived at her home to investigate, but found no evidence of a cougar.

Still, as a precaution, police issued a community alert with information about the possible sighting.

It was not the only one in recent weeks.

There was also a large cat reportedly spotted by someone near the Morton Arboretum in Lisle. However, a motion sensitive camera put in the area hasn't picked up any cougar passings.

April 14 marks the one year anniversary if the Chicago police action to put down a cougar found roaming the streets on the city North Side.
