Crawford, who is still working his way back from the injury, revealed that he suffered a concussion in December of last season, and that he still is not at 100 percent after the ailment.
"Most of the symptoms are gone, but I'm not cleared yet," he told reporters. "Until that happens, I won't be back in."
The Blackhawks told reporters throughout the offseason that Crawford was expected to be back on the ice for the start of camp, and although he did go through a workout with goaltending coach Jimmy Waite on Friday, he did not join his teammates for their workout at MB Ice Arena.
"Right now I'm feeling pretty good," he said. "I've gotten better and better, but right now, I'm not ready to go yet."
Crawford said that he's "really close" to returning to action, but still must be cleared before he can take shots and join his teammates for live practices and games.
