Four Inmates Hurt in Jail Fight

Injuries aren't life-threatening, sheriff's spokesman said

Four inmates were hospitalized after a Thursday night fight at the Cook County Jail, officials said.

The fight started around 9:30 p.m. in Division 9 of the Cook County Jail, at 2854 W. 31st St., said Cook County Sheriff’s office spokesman Frank Bilecki.

Four inmates were injured and taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, Bilecki said. No correctional officers were injured.

One inmate suffered cuts to his face and lip, another had a cut to the forearm, a third had a cut to the arm and a fourth suffered a possible broken nose, Bileki said.

Two of them were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and two were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Fire Media Affairs said.

The Cook County Sheriff’s office is investigating.
