Cook County Commissioner Offers $15,000 Award for Information on Shooting Death of Andrew Holmes' Daughter

Andrew Holmes' daughter was shot to death at a Phillips 66 gas station near Lafayette Square mall in Indianapolis early Saturday morning

The reward has increased for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the shooting death of Tamara Sword, the daughter of anti-violence activist Andrew Holmes, after a Cook County commissioner offered a $15,000 reward Saturday.

Commissioner Sean Morrison offered the reward after Holmes said his 32-year-old daughter, who is a mother of five, was caught in the crossfire at an Indianapolis gas station early Saturday morning.

"Andrew Holmes has done so much for so many people," Morrison said. "It's time for the community to support him and his family in their time of need. We will stand with them every step of the way until justice prevails."

Sword was shot to death at a Phillips 66 gas station near Lafayette Square mall in Indianapolis early Saturday morning.

More than 45 shell casings were found on the scene, Holmes said. Sword, who was inside a car when the gunfire erupted, was struck in the chest and transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Another man, who police identified as Joshua Riggins, was found underneath the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Shell casings were also found at a building near the gas station and a nearby Taco Bell, according to Indianapolis Police Officer Rafael Diaz.

A prayer vigil was held for Sword at the scene of the shooting Sunday.

Chicago's Survivors have also offered a $16,000 reward for information on the shooting. Anyone with information is encouraged to call them at (800) U-TELL-US, or (800) 833-5587.
