Cook County Board to Discuss New Sexual Harassment Training for Employees

A move is underway to bring more training to Cook County employees in an effort to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.

Cook County commissioners are set to discuss Wednesday a proposal by Commissioner Dennis Deer, which would require employees to undergo sexual harassment training every year.

It would clarify what exactly constitutes sexual harassment and call attention to the topic that has dominated news headlines in recent weeks following allegations of sexual misconduct by several prominent men in Hollywood, the news and politics.

Deer and fellow commissioners are expected to bring up their proposal during a committee meeting Wednesday. They hope to eventually receive the support of the full board.

Similar plans are being considered for workers at City Hall and in state government.
