Construction Detour Signs in Chicago Misspell ‘Illinois' as ‘Illions'

The orange detour signs spelled Illinois as “Illions” and misspelled “northbound” as “nothbound"

If you were hoping to get around construction in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, you might have some trouble reading the detour signs.

That’s because the signs at the corner of Diversey Parkway and Sheffield Avenue had, well, some notable spelling errors.

The orange detour signs spelled Illinois as “Illions” and misspelled “northbound” as “nothbound.”

The signs were directing drivers to Illinois Masonic Medical Center’s Wellington Avenue entrance amid construction, along with offering a detour for other motorists.

City Hall offices were closed Monday for Casimir Pulaski Day and officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
