Man Robbed Inside His Chicago Hotel Room: Police

A man staying at a hotel just off the Magnificent Mile was robbed inside his hotel room early Thursday, according to Chicago police.

Authorities said the robbery took place at the Conrad Chicago hotel, located in the 100 block of East Erie Street on the city's Near North Side.

The 47-year-old victim said a man and woman knocked on the door of his hotel room at around 1:33 a.m., according to police.

When he answered, officials said the duo entered the room and showed him a can of mace, announcing a robbery.

The offenders then fled with an unknown amount of cash, authorities said.

"The safety, security and wellbeing of our guests and Team Members are of the upmost importance," a spokeswoman for the hotel said in a statement, confirming "an incident involving a guest" took place.

"Conrad Chicago continues to make every effort to ensure all practices and standards are in line with strict safety and security regulations, and we are working closely with local authorities as they investigate the matter," the hotel's statement continued.

Further details on the suspects were not immediately available. No one is in custody as police continue to investigate.
