Community Run on Saturday to Help Typhoon Haiyan Victims

When disaster strikes around the world, it's always so difficult to know how to help a community that's suffering thousands of miles away.

As you may know, Typhoon Haiyan struck the eastern coast of the Philippines last week, affecting more than 9 million people across the country. Many are homeless, and estimates on the death toll run as high as 10,000.

Continents away, the Chicago community will come together and help alleviate some of the suffering.

The Community Run for Phiippine Typhoon Relief is at 9 a.m. Saturday in Arlington Heights.

The event is hosted by Runner's High and Tri at 121 W. Campbell St. in Arlington Heights. Meet at the store for a 5K run/walk, and coffee and donuts will be provided after. The suggested entry fee is $10, and all proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross for recovery efforts.
