Community Comes Together to Make Holidays Brighter for Family of Jemel Roberson

In the spirit of the holiday season, a community is coming together to help a family facing tragedy.

Jemel Roberson was working as a security guard at a suburban bar earlier this year when he was shot and killed, and on Sunday, his family received a surprise gift to help brighten their spirits.

Just days before Christmas, local business owner Early Walker, along with some help from Santa Claus and his elves, made a special delivery to Roberson’s family.

“It’s our first Christmas without Jemel. It’s just crazy. It’s sad,” Roberson’s girlfrie4nd Avontea Boose said.

26-year-old Jemel Roberson was laid to rest Saturday after he was shot and killed while working security at a suburban bar.

Roberson was shot and killed by police while working as a security guard in a bar in Robbins in November.

This Christmas will be the first for Jemel’s son Tristan, and Walker wanted to help ease the burden on the family before the holidays.

“Pampers, clothes, toys, wipes, basically everything they need, (we wanted to give),” Walker said.

Two truckloads full of items were delivered by Walker and his staff, and W and W Towing Company helped to make the day a reality.

“It’s a story that touched our hearts,” Walker said. “It’s a blessing just to be in the position to come out here and give from the bottom of our hearts.”
