The U.S. Coast Guard and first responders in Chicago responded to boat in distress call on Lake Michigan Saturday evening, officials said.
At approximately 7 p.m., the boat was reported to be about 10 to 15 miles northeast of the city in Lake Michigan. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, officials were in contact with people on the boat.
The boaters were using a radio to communicate with first responders. No further information was available as of late Saturday night.
In an alert issued Saturday, the National Weather Service warned of strong rip currents and dangerous swim conditions along Lake Michigan.
