Hear Emotional Remarks Given at Cmdr. Bauer's Funeral

Poignant, moving messages of Cmdr. Paul Bauer's selfless service to the city of Chicago and his enormous love for his wife, daughter and police family shown through as hundreds packed the fallen commander's funeral service on Saturday.

Cpt. Mel Roman: "Cmdr. Bauer was not defined by his rank. He was a police officer just like the rest of us. Four days ago we stumbled, we took a bad stumble. But we didn’t fall, we didn’t break."

First Deputy Supt. John Escalante: "He never ever wanted to be the center of attention. He actually skipped out on his own promotion ceremony to command."
