City Tells Residents to Move Their ‘Dibs' Objects Before Monday

If you have a “dibs” chair or object in your favorite parking spot, then you only have a limited amount of time left before the city gets rid of it.

On Thursday, the Streets and Sanitation Department announced that they will begin clearing streets of so-called “dibs” objects beginning on Monday morning.

“Please remove any items from the street to avoid them being thrown away,” the department said in a tweet. “Call 311 to report a concern about debris on your block.”

After last week’s heavy snow, “dibs” chairs, cones, statues, and other objects came back in full force in Chicago, but with warmer temperatures and rain helping to melt the snow, the city is putting an end to the practice until the next time the weather turns wintry.
