Pothole season generally comes in late winter and early spring, but despite the date on the calendar, motorists are already having to dodge the potentially dangerous obstacles.
The city of Chicago has a pothole patching tracker on their website, and according to data they have already fixed nearly 400 potholes in the last seven days, but some residents say that they aren’t working fast enough to address the issues.
“This corner is a very dangerous corner,” motorist Freddie White said. “These people don’t even see them because they’re filled with water. If you lose control of the wheel, you could hit anybody.”
Motorists have been complaining about numerous streets, including North Avenue, Grand, and Kedzie.
“I called 311 about my potholes, and they never came,” another motorist said.
An unseasonably cool fall has given way to milder temperatures this weekend, and that is part of the concern for city officials as they work to fix roads in the days ahead.

The weather is forecasted to remain dry for much of the next week, with temperatures in the high 30’s to low 40’s in the forecast.
