Man Charged in Restaurant Shooting Held Without Bond

The man accused of killing two and wounding five others at a packed Englewood fast-food restaurant was ordered held without bail Saturday.

Arthur Chaney, 23, was being treated for sickle cell anemia at an area hospital and did not appear in bond court for his hearing.

Chaney, of the 6600 block of South Peoria, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and five counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Police said detectives are also looking for a getaway driver, who was not in custody as of Saturday afternoon.

The shooting at Church’s Chicken at 66th and Halsted happened at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday during the dinnertime rush featuring 99-cent specials.

Seven people were hit when bullets started flying. Two teens -- Dantril Brown, 17, and Jawan Ross, 16 -- were killed. Five others, ranging in age from 15 to 58, were injured.
