Tigers Fire Former Cubs Pitching Coach Chris Bosio Over ‘Insensitive Comments'

Bosio was let go by the Cubs after the 2017 season

Former Chicago Cubs pitching coach Chris Bosio has been fired by the Detroit Tigers after making insensitive comments toward a team employee, the club said in an announcement Wednesday.

Bosio, who was cut loose from Joe Maddon’s staff after the 2016 NLCS, became the Tigers pitching coach over the offseason, but he was fired Wednesday for the unspecified comments.

“The organization holds all of our personnel to the highest standards of personal conduct both on and off the field,” G.M. Al Avila said in a statement. “We have zero tolerance for this type of behavior.”

Under Bosio, the Tigers had one of baseball’s worst pitching staffs, with a 4.47 ERA and a .256 batting average against.
