Gunfire Interrupts Show at Popular Wicker Park Bar

At least three bullet holes could be seen in windows surrounded by shattered glass

Gunfire interrupted a performance at a popular Wicker Park bar and venue, abruptly ending a night out for many in Chicago late Thursday night.

The shooting happened outside Chop Shop, in the 2000 block of West North Avenue, officials said.

Witnesses said they saw a group of people get out of a vehicle outside the venue, then shots were fired.

Police said no one was injured and the incident was being treated as a “criminal damage to property.”

At least three bullet holes could be seen in windows surrounded by shattered glass.

According to the venue’s website, there was a hip hop and rap show called “Festivity” underway at the time.

The bar ultimately closed early, posting to Facebook that it plans to be open for “business as usual in the morning.”

“Random shooting outside on North Ave. Show canceled,” Chop Shop wrote. “Thankfully NO one hurt!!! Be safe tonight.”
