Person Questioned After Walking Off With 2-Year-Old at South Loop Greyhound Station

A 2-year-old child walked off with an acquaintance Monday at the South Loop Greyhound Bus station, but was later reunited with family members.

The child was returned to its family at 7:10 p.m. in the 600 block of West Harrison Street. One person was being questioned by detectives in relation the matter. 

Sgt. Rocco Alioto of the Chicago Police Department said in an email the suspect is an acquaintence of the child's mother. 

"The suspect walked away with the child while the mother was distracted and did not have the mother's permission to take the child," Alioto said.

The 2-year-old was taken to Lurie’s Children Hospital for evaluation.
