Child Critically Hurt in Fire at Grand Crossing Apartment Building

A 4-year-old child was critically injured in a two-alarm fire Sunday morning in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

As of 12:05 p.m., fire crews were still battling the blaze at an apartment building in the 1400 block of East 67th Place, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said.

The child, whose gender wasn’t immediately known, was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in “very critical” condition, Langford said.

No further information was made available.
