Jesse Campbell of “The Voice” Stops by NBC 5

The 42-year-old singer talked about his rise to fame thanks to "The Voice."

Chicago-area native Jesse Campbell says being on "The Voice" has been a life-changing experience.

"It's been wonderful, there's been some ups and downs but ... I love it," said Campbell while stopping by Studio 5 Monday morning.

The 42-year-old singer grew up singing as a teenager in Maywood and is now living in California pursuing a singing career.

Campbell is on Christina Aguilera's team on "The Voice" and won the first battle round against singer Anthony Evans.

"Christina is awesome, she is very, very witty and quick with it," Campbell said. "She has me hanging off of every word she speaks and I look forward to whatever it is that she has to say."

Campbell added he still gets nervous before performing but says meditating helps him calm down.

"The Voice" airs on Mondays at 7 p.m. on NBC 5.
