White Sox Dispute Report Jimenez Decision Has Been Made

Jimenez's agents threatened to file a grievance in the case yesterday

Just a day after Eloy Jimenez's agents said they would consider filing a grievance against the Chicago White Sox for not calling up their client, a report is out that the team will leave him in the minors for the rest of the year.

The report from USA Today's Bob Nightengale says that the team will let Jimenez finish out the season with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights, and he won't be called up when rosters expand to 40 players on Saturday.

The White Sox responded to the report, saying that no final decision has been made about the team's September call-ups.

"White Sox G.M. Rick Hahn plans to meet with media pregame Monday to discuss the final list after all affected players have been informed of the club's plans," the team said in a statement.

Jimenez has had a monster season in the minor leagues, hitting 22 home runs and 75 RBI in 105 games. He also has a .341 batting average and a staggering .973 OPS in those contests.

If the team holds to their decision with Jimenez, they likely won't call him up to start the 2019 season either, going on a similar path to the one the Chicago Cubs took with Kris Bryant in 2015. That season, the Cubs waited nearly two weeks before calling him up, ensuring that they would get a seventh year of team control before he could become a free agent.
