Dylan Covey, Daniel Palka Recalled in Flurry of White Sox Roster Moves

The White Sox are now able to expand their roster with minor league seasons wrapping up

With rosters expanding for the rest of the MLB season, and with minor league baseball beginning to wind down, the Chicago White Sox have made a series of roster moves for the stretch run.

On Tuesday, the White Sox announced that they have recalled pitcher Dylan Covey, catcher Zack Collins, and outfielder Daniel Palka from Triple-A Charlotte, and they also purchased the contract of infielder Danny Mendick.

Mendick has no major league experience, and is expected to make his debut with the team in the coming days. Covey, Collins and Palka all have big league experience, but will help supplement the team’s roster in the final days of the regular season.

The White Sox did have to make a roster move to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, transferring outfielder Jon Jay to the 60-day injured list. Jay will have season ending surgery this week after being diagnosed with a strained hip earlier this month.

The White Sox roster now stands at 31 players, and their 40-man roster is completely full, according to a press release.
