Lucas Giolito Leaves White Sox Game With Injury

Giolito struck out five batters in 2.2 innings of work

Chicago White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito was forced to leave Wednesday’s start against the Kansas City Royals due to a leg injury, the team has announced.

Giolito, who struck out five batters in 2.2 innings of work on Wednesday, is being considered day-to-day with left hamstring tightness, the White Sox revealed during the game.

Giolito was pitching in the third inning of the game when he grabbed at his leg following a pitch. After being examined by the team’s medical staff, Giolito was pulled from the game, and Ryan Burr replaced him on the mound.

The hurler now has 23 strikeouts on the season and saw his ERA drop to 5.30 thanks to his scoreless outing against the Royals.
