Chicago White Sox Trade Joakim Soria to Milwaukee Brewers

Soria has 16 saves this season

The Chicago White Sox have made a trade, sending pitcher Joakim Soria to the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday.

Soria, who has 16 saves and a 2.56 ERA in 40 appearances with the White Sox this season, will join a Milwaukee bullpen that will aim to avoid the pitfalls it encountered last year as they fell short of a National League Central title.

In exchange, the White Sox received left-handed pitcher Kodi Medeiros and right-handed pitcher Wilber Perez in the deal.

Medeiros has a 3.14 ERA and a 7-5 record in 20 games for Double-A Biloxi this season. He has started 15 games in that league, striking out 107 batters in 103.1 innings.

Perez, who is playing for the Brewers’ team in the Dominican Summer League, has a 5-1 record and a 2.01 ERA in eight starts this season.

The White Sox acquired Soria in a trade during the offseason, and he did exactly what the team asked him to do, serving as a closer long enough for the team to flip him for assets at the trade deadline. Several teams reportedly kicked the tires on Soria, but the Brewers came through again as they added a White Sox bullpen piece for the second straight year.
