White Sox to Honor Cmdr. Paul Bauer at Home Opener

The Chicago White Sox will honor Chicago Police Commander Paul Bauer at their home opener Thursday afternoon.

The White Sox placed a jersey with Bauer’s name in their locker room before the game against the Detroit Tigers:

According to the team, Bauer’s family will deliver the game ball to the pitcher’s mound before the game and will be honored on the P.A. system in the stadium.

Commander Bauer was shot and killed during a confrontation outside of the Thompson Center earlier this year. 44-year-old Shomari Legghette is accused of shooting Bauer to death while the commander was trying to apprehend him.
