The Chicago White Sox are honoring Ken “Hawk” Harrelson at Guaranteed Rate Field Sunday, and the team released a touching tribute video to his broadcasting career as he prepares to step away from the microphone.
Harrelson, who has been with the team since 1990, will retire from broadcasting at the end of the season, but will continue with the club as an ambassador.
On Sunday, the White Sox celebrated “Hawk Day,” paying tribute to the broadcaster, and they released this video:
“He’s our summer playlist. That’s what we listen to,” one fan said in the video.
The day was highlighted by the tribute video, as well as speeches by White Sox dignitaries and Harrelson himself.
Harrelson will call his final games for the White Sox later this month, as he will step into the booth for the call of the team's series against the Chicago Cubs.
