Chicago White Sox prospect Eloy Jimenez is still biding his time in the minor leagues before he gets his big call-up, but you may not know just how fired up he is to get to the show.

Jimenez, who is hitting .317 with 10 home runs and 42 RBI in 228 plate appearances with the Charlotte Knights this season, penned an emotional piece in The Player’s Tribune about how excited he is to not only play big league baseball, but how pumped he is to come to Chicago.

“I honestly look at the city of Chicago as a place that God brought into my life for a special reason,” he said. “Everything about the city just had me in awe – the huge buildings, all the things to do and places to eat, the energy of the people, just…everything.”

Jimenez also recounted his upbringing in the Dominican Republic, and elaborated on how he nearly quit baseball when he was hit in the head with a pitch during his very first game.

Fortunately for White Sox fans, Jimenez kept playing, and he says he’s looking forward to joining the team and setting ambitious goals for himself.

“I want to make Chicago proud, and to repay this town for all the amazing experiences it provided me as a young boy,” he said. “And I want to bring White Sox fans another World Series trophy. Or, even better yet, a few of them.”

Jimenez could make his way to the big league club by Sept. 1, when the roster expands to 40 players.
