Eloy Jiménez Wins AL Player of the Week Honors For White Sox

After hitting his first career grand slam, Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jiménez was honored as the American League’s Player of the Week.

Jiménez hit a total of three home runs and drove in 11 RBI’s last week for the White Sox, going 10-for-23 in the process. He had three multi-hit games, according to the White Sox, and posted a mind-boggling 1.370 OPS:

In a press release, the White Sox noted that Jiménez became the youngest White Sox player to ever have back-to-back four-RBI games, which he achieved on Sept. 10 and 11 against the Kansas City Royals.

In his first big league season, Jiménez has hit 27 home runs and driven in 69 RBI’s in 425 at-bats. He is slashing .259/.309/.489 this season.

Jiménez and the White Sox will be back in action on Monday night when they start a series against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.
