Chicago White Sox Celebrate Cubs World Series Victory on Twitter

The Chicago Cubs became the 2016 World Series champions after toppling the Cleveland Indians in a breathless 10th inning showdown on the heels of a brief rain delay.

It is the first time the team has won a World Series since 1908.

The Chicago White Sox, who were World Series champions in 2005, sent out a congratulatory and sportsmanlike tweet following the Cubs' victory.

"Congrats, @Cubs, on bringing another #WorldSeries Championship to the city of Chicago!" the White Sox tweeted.

It was one of an overwhelming torrent of tweets about the North Side champions on their victorious night, but it held a distinct sense of hometown pride.
