Carlos Rodon Set to Make Spring Debut as Sox Battle Rockies

Rodon is aiming for a healthier 2019 season after making just 20 starts a year ago

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Carlos Rodon will make his spring debut the South Siders Saturday as he takes on the Colorado Rockies at Camelback Ranch.

Rodon, who was limited to 20 games last season after beginning the campaign late with an arm issue, is looking to improve his durability for the White Sox, and he’ll be hoping to turn things around after a rough season on the mound.

Behind him, the White Sox will put out a lineup with several regulars, including Jose Abreu and Tim Anderson, who homered earlier this week in Cactus League action.

1 Jon Jay – RF

2 Yoan Moncada – 3B

3 Jose Abreu – DH

4 Nicky Delmonico – 1B

5 James McCann – C

6 Tim Anderson – SS

7 Yolmer Sanchez – 2B

8 Ryan Cordell – CF

9 Luis Gonzalez – LF

The White Sox are 2-5 so far on the spring, but did win their contest Friday against the Texas Rangers in Surprise. Luis Robert drove in four RBI and hit a triple and a home run in the game, and Yonder Alonso and Welington Castillo each had an RBI in the victory.

Saturday’s game will get underway at 2:05 p.m., and will be available via livestream on the White Sox website.
