For the first time this season, the Chicago White Sox have triumphed over the American League Central leading Minnesota Twins, capturing a 6-4 win at Guaranteed Rate Field Friday night.
James McCann smacked his ninth home run of the season, and Eloy Jiménez hit his 13th of the campaign as the White Sox secured a win over their divisional rivals. José Abreu drove in his 60th RBI of the season in the triumph.
The same day he was officially called up by the White Sox, Ross Detwiler secured his first victory of the season, as he pitched five innings and gave up two earned runs while striking out three batters.
After Kelvin Herrera failed to retire a batter in the ninth inning, Alex Colome came in to secure the save, his 17th of the season.
Miguel Sano drove in all four Twins runs in the losing effort as he clubbed a pair of two-run home runs.
The White Sox got off to a hot start on offense as McCann launched his ninth home run of the season over the center field fence, scoring Leury García and giving the Sox a 2-0 lead right off the bat.
The Twins responded with a big fly of their own, as Sanó homered to left field to tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the second inning.

That score held until the fifth inning when the White Sox scored a pair of runs. Jon Jay continued his solid play of late with an RBI single to right field, and Abreu followed that up with a single to left field to make it a 4-2 game.
Jiménez stepped up to the plate in the eighth inning with a runner on base, and he delivered a clutch home run to center field to provide two critical insurance runs for the White Sox.
They would need them as Sanó homered to right field in the ninth inning, but Colome finished off the save and the Sox moved their home record to 21-17 on the season.
Ivan Nova will take the hill for the White Sox in Saturday’s game, which is set to begin at 3:12 p.m. at Guaranteed Rate Field.
