1 Dead, at Least 9 Wounded in Shootings Saturday

The city's first fatal shooting occurred just before 6 p.m. in the 2000 block of East 95th Street

One person is dead and at least nine others have been wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago Saturday.

The city’s first fatal shooting occurred in the 2000 block of East 95th Street at approximately 5:47 pm., according to police. A 33-year-old man was inside a parked vehicle when another car pulled up alongside him, and one of the men inside opened fire.

The victim was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his back, and he later died from his injuries.

No one is in custody, according to police.

One of the day’s shootings occurred in the Loop, when a 21-year-old man was walking near the intersection of Wabash and Adams, according to police. The man heard shots, and he was wounded in his arm.

The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. No one is in custody.

Here are the rest of Saturday’s shootings:

  • A 26-year-old woman was involved in a physical altercation with another woman on a sidewalk in the 3900 block of West Gladys when she heard shots, according to police. The woman was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition with a gunshot wound to her right leg.
  • At approximately 3:19 a.m. in the 2600 block of West 22nd Place, a 29-year-old man was standing on a street corner when a person in a van fired shots at him. He was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his right ankle.
  • Just before 4 a.m. in the 900 block of South Independence, a 21-year-old woman was getting into a vehicle when a man walked up to her and opened fire, striking her in the back. She was taken to Stroger in stable condition.
  • At approximately 4:39 a.m., a 21-year-old man was standing in an alley in the 0-100 block of West Illinois when he heard shots and felt pain in his left leg, police said. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
  • A 23-year-old man was shot in the upper left leg in the 6300 block of South Justine, police said. The incident occurred just before 10 a.m., and he was transferred to the University of Chicago Medical Center in stable condition.
  • Just before 4 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in the head while he stood in an alley in the 100 block of South Leclaire, police said. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition.
  • A 33-year-old man was shot in the left leg in the 5800 block of West Division just after 5 p.m., according to police. The man was walking on a sidewalk when he was shot, and he was taken to West Suburban Hospital in stable condition.
  • A 17-year-old girl was standing on a sidewalk in the 0-100 block of North Karlov at approximately 8:36 p.m. when she was shot in the upper left chest and left forearm, according to authorities. She was taken to West Suburban in stable condition.
