1 Dead, at Least 16 Wounded in Shootings Across Chicago

A 35-year-old man is dead and at least 16 others have been wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago Sunday.

The man, identified as Ari Armour by authorities, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in the Englewood neighborhood on the city’s South Side on Sunday morning, according to police.

A total of four people were shot when two people in a passing SUV fired shots, striking the group. Armour, an assistant football coach and security guard at Hubbard High School, suffered gunshot wounds to his back and head, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 25-year-old woman was shot in the leg and upper body, and was listed in serious condition at University of Chicago Hospital. A 19-year-old man was shot in the leg, and was listed in stable condition at Christ Hospital. A 32-year-old man was shot in the torso, and was listed in serious condition at Stroger, according to police.

No one is in custody in connection with the shooting, and police continue to investigate.

A 15-year-old boy was injured, and a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg on Sunday afternoon in the 200 block of South Keeler, police say. 

The victims told police that they were walking at approximately 5:13 p.m. when a dark colored sedan pulled up and an occupant opened fire. 

The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to his forearm, and the man was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition with a gunshot wound to his left leg. 

Here are the rest of the shootings that have taken place in Chicago on Sunday:

  • A 16-year-old boy suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the wrist while handling a gun in the 7200 block of South Hermitage, police said. No charges will be filed in the case, and the boy is in good condition at Holy Cross Hospital.
  • Just after 5 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Tripp Avenue, a 30-year-old man suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his buttocks and his calf, police said. He is in stable condition at Mount Sinai.
  • In the 300 block of East 47th Street at approximately 6:38 a.m., a 23-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk when an SUV drove past and an occupant fired shots, striking the victim multiple times. He was taken to University of Chicago in stable conditions with gunshot wounds to his buttocks, back, and leg.
  • A 22-year-old man was shot in the back and abdomen in the 700 block of North Trumbull at approximately 8:58 a.m., police said. He is listed in serious condition at Mount Sinai. 
  • A 24-year-old man was shot just after noon in the 4400 block of West Maypole, police said. A man riding on a bicycle fired shots at another man, who was sitting in a vehicle. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition with a gunshot wound to his left arm.
  • A 26-year-old man was shot during an altercation in the 2800 block of West 26th Street, police say. During the verbal fight, a man pulled out a gun and began firing shots at the victim, striking him in the right leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition. 
  • In the 1800 block of South Farrar Drive, a 37-year-old man was outside with a group of people when gunshots rang out. He was shot in the calf, and is in good condition at Mount Sinai, according to police. 
  • A 24-year-old man was riding in a Jeep Cherokee on Lake Shore Drive when a man in a black sedan fired shots at him, striking him in the left leg. He drove himself to Northwestern Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
  • In the 6200 block of South Vernon, a 32-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk at approximately 11:06 p.m. when another man walked up to him and opened fire. The victim was taken to University of Chicago in stable condition with gunshot wounds to his right leg. 
  • A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in the face, neck, and back. The incident occurred in the 8200 block of South Wentworth, and witnesses say they saw a group of men running from the scene after the shooting, police said.
