4 Dead, at Least 2 Wounded in Weekend Shootings

Weekend gun violence has claimed the lives of four people and wounded at least two more in shootings across Chicago.

The weekend’s most recent fatal shooting occurred just after noon Sunday in the 7300 block of South Bell. A 21-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his chest, and was taken to Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The first fatal shooting of the weekend occurred on Friday night in the 8100 block of South Drexel. At approximately 10:30 p.m., a 40-year-old man was discovered inside a home with a gunshot wound to his chest, according to police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, and no one is in custody.

Just 15 minutes later, another man was shot to death in the 5200 block of South May. Standing inside a residence, an offender fired shots into the home, striking the victim in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Saturday afternoon, a 47-year-old man was shot multiple times while sitting in a parked vehicle in the 1500 block of North Western Avenue. A man dressed in dark clothing approached the car and fired shots, striking the victim in the head and chest.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and no one is in custody.

Saturday:

  • A 27-year-old man was driving a vehicle in the 7700 block of South Peoria just before 1 a.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, according to police. He was taken to Christ Hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound to his neck.

Sunday:

  • An 18-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in the 2500 block of West 63rd Street at approximately 2:53 a.m., police said. He was standing in an alley when the occupant in a white sedan fired shots at him. He was taken to Christ Hospital with gunshot wounds to his head.
