Five people are dead and at least 19 others have been injured in shootings across the city of Chicago this weekend, police confirmed.
The first deadly shooting occurred in the 4200 block of West Iowa at approximately 8:16 p.m. on Friday night, police said.
A 34-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were approached by an unknown suspect who fired shots toward them. The man was struck seven times, and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The female victim was struck once in the chest, back and arm and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. No suspect has been arrested.
At around 12:05 a.m. on Saturday, a 60-year-old man was shot and killed in the 9500 block of South University in the city’s Cottage Grove Heights neighborhood, police said. The victim was shot in the head while walking in an alley, and then taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
A resident told police an unknown number of people ran down the alley after shots were fired. Police have yet to arrest whoever is responsible.

A 22-year-old man was shot and killed at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of West Ohio, police said. The victim was standing on the sidewalk when a silver Infiniti began firing shots in his direction. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital where he died, officials confirmed. No arrests have been made.
Approximately two hours later in the 200 block of East 41st Street, a 27-year-old man was traveling in a vehicle when a black SUV pulled up behind him and a person inside opened fire, striking him several times, police said.
The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Early Sunday morning, a group of 30 to 40 people were standing in the 8200 block of South Maryland at approximately 3:30 a.m. when a person opened fire, striking four individuals.
A 17-year-old boy was shot in the neck and back, and was later pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.
Three other victims, a 20-year-old man and two women, were also shot and were taken to area hospitals in stable condition.
The victims gave inconsistent statements on where the shots were fired from, and one of the victims refused to identify herself and was uncooperative with the investigation. No one is in custody.

Friday –
- In the 1800 block of South Keeler at approximately 8:27 p.m., two 26-year-old men were on a sidewalk when they heard gunshots and felt pain, police said. One of the men was struck once in the thigh, and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. The other victim was hit once in the elbow and to the left side, and went to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
- Police were called about a 45-year-old man who had been shot at approximately 10:23 p.m. in the 5100 block of South Michigan, according to Chicago police. The victim was shot in the arm and chest, and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in stable condition.
Saturday –
- At approximately 1:52 a.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the hip while walking in the 400 block of East 88th Place, police said. The victim told officers he didn’t see the shooter or know where the shots came from. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in stable condition.
- Officers responded to a call of a 24-year-old man who had been shot at approximately 4 a.m. in the 600 block of East 75th Street, police said. The victim was shot in the arm and back, and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where his condition had since stabilized.
- In the 2200 block of South Kirkland at approximately 9:44 a.m., a 38-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the head, according to police. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
- A man was shot in the foot at approximately 11:20 a.m. in the 9300 block of South Halsted, police said. The victim was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in stable condition.
- In the 6700 block of South Ada Street at approximately 2:40 p.m. a 29-year-old man was struck by gunfire, police said. The victim was reportedly shot by an unknown person in a gray vehicle. He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in critical condition.
- In the 7900 block of South Wood at approximately 1:36 a.m., two men were inside an apartment when they were shot by the friend of a relative who fired shots into the residence after being asked to leave following an altercation. One man was shot in the stomach and was in stable condition at an area hospital, while a 37-year-old man was shot in the leg. He is in good condition, police said.
- A 26-year-old man was walking in the 2800 block of West 21st Street when he was shot by a person in a passing vehicle, police said. The man was hit twice in the arm and three times in the leg, and his condition has stabilized at Mount Sinai.
- At approximately 2:30 a.m. in the 5400 block of West Iowa, a 32-year-old man was walking when a person in a silver Chevrolet vehicle fired shots, striking him in the back. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
- In the 11600 block of South Sangamon at approximately 3:22 a.m., a 27-year-old man was about to get in his car when a man in a passing silver Hyundai Sonata opened fire, grazing the man's torso. He refused treatment at the scene, police said.
- Two men were shot while standing next to a car in the 7600 block of South Sangamon when a person in a passing vehicle fired shots, striking both victims. According to police, both men were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in stable condition with gunshot wounds to their legs.
