3 People, Including 2 Children, Wounded in Shooting

Police say that three people, including two children, were shot in the 4900 block of West Rice on Sunday evening.

The victims were standing on a sidewalk just after 7 p.m. when they heard gunshots and felt pain, according to police.

A 13-year-old girl was shot in the upper leg, while a 13-year-old boy was shot in the left ankle. A 26-year-old woman was also shot in the upper thigh, and all three victims were taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, according to authorities.

The shootings were part of a weekend of gun violence in Chicago that saw one person killed and at least nine wounded.

The city’s first fatal shooting occurred on Sunday morning in the 13200 block of South Riverdale, according to police. An unidentified man between the ages of 30 and 35 years old was found sitting in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his head.

Authorities pronounced the man dead at the scene, and are still investigating.

Friday:

An 18-year-old was walking down a street in the 5000 block of North Keystone just before 5 p.m. when an SUV pulled up and an occupant fired shots. He was struck in the shoulder and was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition.  

Saturday:

A 29-year-old man was shot in the arm and leg just before 4 a.m in the 6200 block of South Karlov, police said. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.

Two people were shot at approximately 1:23 p.m. in the 7200 block of South Merrill as they tried to buy a cellphone from someone they met via an online app, according to police. During the sale, multiple offenders tried to rob the duo, and one of them pulled out a gun and fired shots. A 19-year-old man was shot in the hip and was taken to Northwestern Hospital in unknown condition. A 39-year-old man was shot in the hand and was taken to Trinity Hospital in good condition.

Sunday:

At approximately 1:15 a.m., a 36-year-old man was sitting in a car in the 2500 block of West Chicago when another vehicle approached and an occupant fired shots at him. He was struck once in the leg, and he was taken to Norwegian Hospital in good condition.

A 25-year-old man was standing in the 2900 block of North Kedzie at approximately 2:30 a.m. when he was shot three times, police said. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition with three gunshot wounds to his leg.
